Architecture
During WWII Rotterdam suffered heavily from extensive bombardments. Close to 3 square kilometers of the city were completely leveled. Afterwards, architects got a carte blanche to rebuild the city center. Daring new styles for residential housing, office buildings and recreation facilities resulted in a more livable city with a bright new skyline. Some well-known architecture offices are located in Rotterdam, such as Rem Koolhaas Office of Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). On this page you will find some information about Rotterdam’s most famous buildings located in different neighborhoods of the city. To get more extensive information you can download a free DIY-architecture tour or you can pick one up at Use-it. For more detailed information pay a visit to the City Information Center on the Coolsingel 197, open Mon 1pm-5.30pm, Tue-Fri 9am-5.30pm, Sat 11am-5pm
