Cinemas and Theaters
All foreign movies here are shown in their original languages with Dutch subtitles. Animations or cartoons are sometimes dubbed into Dutch but in that case both the original version and the dubbed version are shown. Most theater productions are in Dutch. However a visit to a theater can be nice to listen to music or attend a dance performance by one of Rottterdam’s world famous dance groups.

Lantaren/Venster isn’t only about theater. They’ve got art house movies, contemporary dance pieces with an edgy twist and live (jazz) music.

Rotterdam’s world music center is WMDC: great live music and dancing for a low price. Worth a look!

Rotterdamse Schouwburg
The Rotterdamse Schouwburg houses over 500 shows annually including a diverse (inter)national program to boast about. Ranging from classical ballet, experimental multimedia performances, opera, modern dance and a stage for annual festivals like Poetry International and the International Film Festival.
