Where to go in case of emergency?
Police
Call 112 in case of an emergency. This number is free of charge and the person on the phone will ask you what you need depending on the situation. For police assistance with no direct emergency, call 0900-8844 (local fare). The main Police Station is located at Doelwater 5 (close to City Hall/ Coolsingel) and it’s open 24/7.
Hospital
If you want to go to the hospital or are in need of first aid, the 'Spoedeisende hulp' is there for everyone who needs immediate medical assistance. Bring your ID or passport, a list of medications you might be on and your insurance papers. Call 112 when you need an ambulance.

The GGD is useful for getting STD tests or a vaccination for your trip to the tropics.

Dentist
To find a dentist in Rotterdam you can make use of the website www.tandarts.nl. The names listed with a green star accept new patients. For urgent dental problems during the weekends and after 5pm, call the Tandartscentrale (010) 4552155.
Pharmacies
Most pharmacies are open from Mon-Fri 9am-5pm. You can’t get prescribed medication without being examined by a Dutch General Practitioner first. There is a ‘night pharmacist’ on Schiedamsedijk 80, (010) 2141044. Basic medications such as paracetamol are available at drugstores like Kruidvat, Etos & DA. House brands are cheap and good.
